New advances in DirectX from Microsoft, AMD, and NVIDIA could revolutionize graphics tech and dramatically boost gaming performance and visual quality. Early testing has produced strong results, with AMD's Radeon RX 9070 XT reportedly delivering up to a 50x performance increase and…
While we shouldn't expect such dramatic leaps in ray tracing performance in games, Microsoft's new DXR API features show plenty of promise. A tech enthusiast has just put Microsoft’s recent update to its DXR (DirectX Raytracing) API to the test…
Microsoft's latest DirectX Raytracing (DXR) technology continues to deliver remarkable results in independent testing, with NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5080 achieving a more than 220-fold frame-rate improvement and a 94% reduction in acceleration structure memory consumption in a particularly demanding synthetic demonstration. Following…
While modern game engines continue pushing graphical fidelity at an increasingly demanding performance cost, an independent developer has demonstrated what a highly specialized rendering engine can achieve with relatively modest hardware. The results are impressive, particularly considering the sheer density…
Microsoft's latest DirectX Raytracing (DXR) upgrade appears to be delivering on its remarkable performance claims, with independent testing on an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT revealing massive improvements in acceleration structure efficiency and memory consumption. As we reported last week, Microsoft's…
Two new features coming to the DXR API aim to reduce computational and memory load while ray tracing, and should already be compatible with current graphics cards. Microsoft has published a preview of DirectX Raytracing (DXR) Clustered Geometry and Partitioned…
Potentially getting much more out of existing hardware is nothing to sniff at. While I go 'oo' at every perfectly lit videogame vista, ray tracing can sometimes make my gaming rig go 'HNNNG'. I love a traced ray as much…
AMDNR modification allowed to run path tracing, ray reconstruction and quadruple frame generation of Intel XeMFG in the action game Phantom Blade Zero on the video card AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT. In the computer version of the action role-playing game…
Microsoft is bringing NVIDIA-developed Mega Geometry tech to the broader DirectX ecosystem. Microsoft's DirectX Raytracing Trick Could Slash VRAM Use By Up To 90%
Ray tracing looks fantastic, but the performance cost has always been a bitter pill to swallow. So much so, I tend to play with it turned off in a lot of games these days, unless it’s vital to how the…
